Lesser known, hugely rewarding
The mighty Selous Game Reserve is one of Africa's least known yet wildest conservation areas. It is fed by the mighty Rufiji River, the largest river in East Africa which supports over 1 million large animals, 2,100 species of plants, 250 species of birds, 60,000 odd elephant and over 100,000 buffalos.
The highlight here is its estimated 1,300 rare wild dog.
The Selous is a fantastic safari experience due to the numerous safari activities on offer, including boating safaris on the Rufiji River, walking safaris, fly camping and traditional 4x4 game drives.
The best news is you may not see another vehicle the entire time you're on safari in Tanzania's hidden gem, Selous Game Reserve.
