Untamed & ruggedly beautiful
Damaraland is one of the most scenic areas in Namibia with prehistoric water courses, open plains and grassland, massive granite formations and distant mountains. This area of outstanding natural beauty is home to the tongue-clicking Damara people. The hills contain Namibia’s best-known rock art and unique wildlife, including the desert-adapted elephant and free-roaming black rhinos. Kaokoland is the vast, rocky, mountainous terrain inland from the Skeleton Coast. This wild and unpredictable wilderness is home to the Himba Tribe and an impressive number of desert elephants! The Himba cling fiercely to strict traditions and follow a nomadic pastoral lifestyle, moving constantly to find grazing for their goats and cattle in this hostile area.
